Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) allows you to connect to the UCF network and the Internet without plugging your computer into a network jack or using a phone line. Simply turn on your computer in an area where wireless is available, and you're online. More... UCF uses Cisco's Aironet as it's official wireless backbone. For a deeper explanation of wireless networking, its history, and its future visit Cisco.com. Currently UCF has implemented both the 802.11b and g standards for wireless connectivity. We will not be implementing 802.11a. The campus is a mix of B only AP's and B/G AP's, so your connection may not always work at full G speeds. The How To... page will explain how to buy, install, and configure a wireless adapter for use on campus. Once your wireless adapter is installed and configured correctly, you must Register your wireless adapter so that it will work on campus. Anyone may register additional wireless cards. Use the registration link to remove and update additional wireless card you will be responsible for. Wireless Guest Access is available for campus visitors. The Signal Coverage page lists which buildings have a wireless signal available indoors, and links to all maps of signal coverage currently available.
